Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate of Passports announced on Wednesday that the process of distributing passports on paper ID has been stopped.
The department announced that the process of issuing and distributing computerized passports for paper ID cards has been stopped.
According to the statement from now on applicants can obtain passports only after they are issued an electronic identity card.
National Statistics and Information Authority of Afghanistan indicated that to provide better services, cut the time short and prevent the provision of parallel service, electronic ID cards will be distributed to Afghan citizens.
Earlier, President Ghani in his remarks during the Closing Ceremony of Public Administration Symposium said that The role of public administration is fundamentally changing and society, government, and the economy are becoming digitalized.
