2,400 get bail in cases over recent violence

In Bangladesh, 2,400 people, including top opposition leaders from BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, were granted bail by Dhaka magistrates. They were arrested in 178 cases related to quota reform protests. The cases, filed between July 16 and August 4, include charges of rioting, assaulting law enforcers, and property damage. Over 270 cases were lodged across 39 police stations in Dhaka, with most complaints filed by police personnel. Daily Star
