IOC boosts women’s soccer teams to 16, men’s teams down to 12

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will increase women’s soccer teams from 12 to 16 while reducing men’s teams from 16 to 12, reflecting women’s soccer’s growing popularity, especially in the US. The Games will feature 351 medal events, 22 more than Paris 2024, with several sports adding new mixed team competitions.
