Don’t turn metro rail into a status symbol

The proposal to impose a 15% VAT on Dhaka metro rail fares has sparked concerns over accessibility for lower-income commuters. While the current fare may seem affordable, the additional tax could make the service unattainable for those living below the poverty line.
