Former President Donald Trump became the first US president to be convicted of a crime after a New York jury found him guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a payment to a porn star before the 2016 election. The verdict plunges the US into uncharted territory ahead of the 2024 presidential election, where Trump is seeking to win back the White House from President Joe Biden. Photo: Reuters/Seth Wenig
