By Redoy K

Bangladesh has risen to the second position globally in freshwater fish production, surpassing China, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization’s “The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture” report. The country produced 13.22 lakh tonnes of freshwater fish in 2022, accounting for 11.7% of the global total, trailing only India. Conservation efforts and advanced farming techniques have contributed to Bangladesh’s impressive performance in the fisheries sector.
