The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to allow private universities in Bangladesh to offer PhD programs and confer doctoral degrees, subject to meeting certain criteria. This move aims to curb brain drain, retain local talent, foster research culture, and enhance the country’s global academic standing while ensuring quality through regulatory oversight.
