Lord of the Rings’ star McKellen hospitalised after stage fall

Ian McKellen, the 85-year-old veteran British actor known for playing Gandalf in the “Lord of the Rings” films, was hospitalized after falling from the stage during a performance of “Player Kings” in London’s West End on Monday. Though he underwent scans, the theater confirmed McKellen is in good spirits and expected to make a full recovery. The production canceled Tuesday’s show to allow him to rest but plans for him to return to the stage on Wednesday.
