At least nine people, including eight Rohingyas, were killed in landslides triggered by heavy torrential rain in Ukhiya refugee camps of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, this morning. The deceased could not be immediately identified. Authorities have confirmed recovering nine bodies so far from the camps, with one victim being from the local community. Evacuation of Rohingyas living in risky hilly areas is ongoing amid the heavy rainfall that has been lashing Cox’s Bazar since yesterday. Around 1.2 million Rohingyas are sheltered in the region’s camps.
