US bans Kaspersky over security risk from Russia
The US government has banned the sale of Kaspersky antivirus software, citing national security concerns due to the company’s Russian base. The ban starts July 20, with support for existing customers ending September 29. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo urged Americans to switch to alternative providers immediately. The move follows a 2017 ban on Kaspersky for federal agencies. Kaspersky serves over 400 million individual and 240,000 corporate clients globally, including critical US infrastructure organizations.
