Gavi to boost access to life-saving human rabies vaccines in over 50 countries
Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is now supporting human rabies vaccines for post-exposure prophylaxis in routine immunization programs. Eligible countries can apply for funding, with the first application round due by mid-July 2024. This initiative aims to address the 95% of human rabies deaths occurring in Africa and Asia, particularly in marginalized communities. It aligns with the Zero by 30 campaign to eliminate dog-mediated human rabies by 2030. Applications for Gavi funding will be accepted from July 15 to September 23, 2024. Source WHO
