Govt appoints Tareq Md Ariful Islam as permanent envoy to UN in Geneva

Ambassador Tareq Md Ariful Islam has been appointed as Bangladesh’s new permanent representative to the UN Offices in Geneva, succeeding Mohammad Sufiur Rahman. Currently serving as the envoy to Sri Lanka, Tareq joined the foreign service in 1998 and has held various diplomatic positions, including in New York and Kolkata. He holds degrees from Monash University and BUET, specializing in international peace, regional cooperation, human rights, and migration. Tareq is married with two daughters. Prothom Alo
