Water levels of major rivers in Sylhet rising fast following heavy rain
Heavy rainfall in Bangladesh’s Sylhet region has caused severe flooding and waterlogging in Sylhet city and Sunamganj town. The Sylhet-Sunamganj highway is submerged, cutting off road connections to Companiganj and Gowainghat upazilas. The Surma River is flowing well above danger levels in multiple areas, including Kanaighat, Chhatak, and Sunamganj town. In Sylhet city, the river is just 1cm below the danger level.
