At least 27 crushed to death in India religious gathering

At least 27 people, including 25 women, were killed in a stampede during a Hindu religious gathering in Hathras, northern India. The incident occurred at an event celebrating the deity Shiva, about 140 km southeast of New Delhi. Many more were injured, and the death toll may rise. This tragedy adds to a history of deadly accidents at religious events in India, including stampedes and explosions that have claimed hundreds of lives in recent years. Source AFP
