Major stampedes in India over the years

By Redoy K

A stampede at a Hindu religious gathering in Uttar Pradesh, India, killed at least 116 people on Tuesday. This tragedy adds to a history of deadly stampedes at religious events in India. Notable incidents include 265 deaths at Mandhardevi temple in 2005, 145 at Naina Devi temple in 2008, and 115 at Ratangarh temple in 2013. Most stampedes occurred due to overcrowding and poor crowd management at popular religious sites. Source Reuters
