Himalayan honey hunters face climate crisis
Nepali honey hunters face challenges in gathering prized hallucinogenic “mad honey” from Himalayan cliffs. Climate change, environmental degradation, and human activities are reducing bee populations and honey yields. Irregular rainfall, wildfires, pesticides, and hydropower projects contribute to the decline. Scientists confirm rising temperatures affect bees significantly. The reduction in pollination has severe economic consequences for Nepal, with annual losses estimated at up to $250 per capita. The rare honey’s scarcity drives up its price.Source:Jagonews
