Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan decides to step down

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan of Bangladesh has decided to resign following student protests. Demonstrators from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement threatened to besiege judges’ residences if they didn’t step down by 1:00pm. The Chief Justice cited concerns for the safety of judges across the country as his reason for resigning.
