IMF team in Dhaka to review compliance of loan conditions

By Redoy K

A 10-member IMF delegation is visiting Dhaka from Tuesday until May 8 to review Bangladesh’s progress in meeting the conditions for the $4.7 billion loan. They will hold meetings with government agencies like the Finance Division, Bangladesh Bank, and NBR. The visit comes amid challenges like low forex reserves, high inflation, and missed revenue targets. The third loan tranche is expected within two months, but conditions like adopting a flexible exchange rate remain unmet. (photo/reuters)
