Md Jashim Uddin appointed Bangladesh’s new Foreign Secretary

The interim government of Bangladesh has appointed Md Jashim Uddin as the country’s 27th Foreign Secretary, replacing Masud Bin Momen. Jashim Uddin, a career diplomat who joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1994, has previously served as ambassador to China, Qatar, and Greece. He holds degrees from the University of Dhaka and the University of Leeds, UK. The appointment follows the cancellation of Momen’s contractual extension, which had been granted by the previous government.
