Nearly 30 factories shut in Ashulia in face of labour unrest

Nearly 30 garment factories in Ashulia, Bangladesh, were forced to close due to worker protests. Despite most factories reopening following a BGMEA decision, workers at these 30 facilities walked out, citing unresolved demands. The Jirabo-Bishmail road was briefly blocked by protesters. Six people were detained for questioning on suspicion of instigating unrest. Army, police, and BGB personnel were deployed to maintain order.
