Banglalink’s tower sales: BTRC’s negligence deprives state coffers of Tk 69 crore

Bangladesh’s telecom regulator BTRC failed to collect Tk 69 crore ($6.3 million) from Banglalink for selling 2,000 mobile towers to Summit Towers. According to regulations, companies must pay 5.5% of the sales price when transferring assets. The BTRC is investigating why charges weren’t imposed on the Tk 1,100 crore ($101 million) deal.
