BFIU asks banks to freeze accounts of former UCB director, family members
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered banks to freeze accounts belonging to Anisuzzaman Chowdhury Ronny, former director of United Commercial Bank (UCB) and brother of ex-land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed. The freeze, initially for 30 days, also applies to accounts of Ronny’s wife and daughter. This action follows last month’s dissolution of UCB’s board by Bangladesh Bank, which resulted in Ronny and his family members losing control over the bank.
