US Man Dies From Rare Mosquito Virus Caught In Backyard, Cases Rising

Richard Pawulski, 49, from Connecticut, died after a five-year battle with Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), a rare mosquito-borne virus he contracted while gardening in 2019. The disease, which attacks the brain and has a 30% mortality rate, initially caused severe migraines and vomiting.
