Tycoons linked to Hasina siphoned $17b from banks, BB chief tells FT

Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur has alleged that tycoons connected to former PM Sheikh Hasina’s administration, along with military intelligence, siphoned $17 billion from the banking sector. In an interview with Financial Times, he specifically named S Alam Group chairman Mohammed Saiful Alam, claiming his group alone channeled $10 billion through forced bank takeovers and fraudulent loans.
