Absence of doctors cripples hospital operations
Following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and departure amid political unrest, Bangladesh’s healthcare system has been severely disrupted. Many hospitals, especially in Dhaka, are facing a shortage of doctors and senior officials, particularly those affiliated with the pro-Awami League doctors’ organization SWACHIP. While some general doctors and BNP-supported DAB members are present, administrative functions are largely non-operational. Patients are struggling to receive medical care, with surgeries and routine check-ups on hold in many facilities. Dhaka Tribune
