Academic activities of 35 public univs halted as teachers start work abstention

Teachers and staff at 35 public universities in Bangladesh, including Dhaka University, have begun an indefinite strike demanding the reinstatement of previous pension facilities. The strike has halted academic and administrative activities, including the closure of DU’s library on its 103rd founding anniversary. The Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association is leading the protest against the new Universal Pension Scheme. University staff members have also joined the work abstention, vowing to continue until their demands are met. Daily Star
