Alaska glaciers may hit irreversible melting point sooner than expected

By Redoy K

A new study reveals that glaciers in Alaska’s Juneau Icefield are melting faster than previously thought. The ice volume loss from 2010 to 2020 was twice the annual rate recorded from 1979 to 2010. Researchers warn that the icefield may reach an irreversible tipping point sooner than expected, potentially leading to permanent decline. This accelerated melting could have implications for similar icefields across Canada, Greenland, Norway, and other high-Arctic locations. Source Reuters
