Bangladesh signs international convention on enforced disappearances
Bangladesh has signed the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, joining all nine core human rights treaties. Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus signed the instrument of accession on August 29, 2024, a day before the International Day for Victims of Enforced Disappearances. The interim government has formed a commission to investigate cases of enforced disappearances during the previous 15-year rule.
