Growers demand fair price of tea leaves in Panchagarh

Tea growers in Panchagarh, Bangladesh, held a demonstration to demand fair prices for their tea leaves. Over 200 farmers formed a human chain and rallied, claiming factory owners are paying only Tk 12-15 per kg instead of the agreed Tk 17. They alleged weight deductions leading to even lower returns. Protesters demanded tea leaf prices be fixed at Tk 40 per kg and called for the industry to be brought under the agriculture ministry.
