Octane, petrol prices cut by Tk 6 per litre

The Bangladesh government has announced a reduction in fuel prices effective from midnight tomorrow. Diesel and kerosene will now cost Tk 105.50 per litre, a decrease of Tk 1.25. Petrol will be priced at Tk 121 per litre and octane at Tk 125 per litre, both seeing a Tk 6 reduction. Power supply from Adani plant resumes

Power supply from a unit of the Adani power plant in Jharkhand, India resumed today after a 60-hour disruption due to technical issues. The 1,496-megawatt coal-fired plant, which halted operations on Friday due to a valve leak, is now producing over 500 megawatts. Bangladesh Power Development Board spokesperson Shameem Hasan confirmed the resumption at 7:45am. Another unit of the plant is undergoing maintenance and is expected to restart this week.

Loadshedding in Patuakhali rises after Payra power plant unit shut for maintenance

Loadshedding has increased in Patuakhali after one unit of the 1,320 MW Payra Thermal Power Plant was shut for 4-5 days of maintenance. Petrobangla cancels LNG spot cargo deliveries

Bangladesh’s state-owned Petrobangla has canceled some spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports after one of the country’s two LNG import terminals was damaged during a cyclone, leaving it unable to receive shipments. Petrobangla canceled four spot cargoes scheduled for late May to mid-June delivery from suppliers like Gunvor and QatarEnergy. The damaged Summit LNG terminal has a regasification capacity of 500 million cubic feet per day and supplies gas to the national grid.

Using solar panels on 10pc of waterbodies, rooftops can meet country’s power demand: study

According to a new study, utilizing unallocated khas lands in Dhaka division for solar power generation can meet 26% of the capital’s electricity demand. Additionally, utilizing 10% of waterbodies for floating solar plants and 10% of rooftops for solar panels can meet the entire country’s energy needs. The study, conducted by BELA and CLEAN, highlights Bangladesh’s potential to achieve its 100% renewable energy target by 2050 through effective land and resource utilization.

LPG price cut by Tk 2.53 per kg for June

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission has reduced the price of bottled Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Tk 2.53 per kg for the month of June. The new price per kg has been fixed at Tk 113.55. As a result, the price of a 12-kg bottled LPG, a common cooking fuel, will be Tk 1,363 – Tk 30 less than the previous month’s price.
