Man killed in dispute over fishing rights

A 60-year-old man, Torab Ali Khan, was killed in Natore’s Baraigram upazila during a clash over fishing rights in a disputed pond. The incident occurred in Warishpur village around 9:00am yesterday. Torab had a long-standing dispute with a local named Rana, 48. During an argument, Rana’s group attacked Torab with sticks and sharp weapons. The Bangladesh Bank has ordered the freezing of bank accounts belonging to Jahangir Alam, former personal assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, his wife, and their associated companies. This action follows the Prime Minister’s public comments about a former staff member amassing unexplained wealth. Jahangir Alam, who served as the PM’s personal assistant for multiple terms, was previously relieved of his position due to various allegations. The freeze will last for 30 days under the Money Laundering Prevention Act.

Gas supply suspended for 8 hours in parts of Dhaka today

Gas supply will be suspended for 8 hours (10:00am to 6:00pm) on Tuesday in parts of Dhaka city, including Banani DOHS, Shaheed Moinul Road, and Swadhinata Sarani. Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company announced this temporary shutdown for emergency gas pipeline relocation. Surrounding areas may experience low gas pressure during this period. The company apologized for any inconvenience caused to consumers by this necessary interruption.

Flood situation deteriorates in Kurigram, over 200,000 people marooned

Floods have worsened in Kurigram, Bangladesh, with over 200,000 people marooned in 14 unions across five upazilas. The Brahmaputra River is flowing above danger levels at three points. 5 killed in head-on collision between bus and truck in Dinajpur

Five people were killed and 28 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a fruit-laden truck in Dinajpur district, Bangladesh. BB takes new initiative to bring export earnings at home
