A breakthrough in neurotechnology has allowed an ALS patient, Casey Harrell, to speak again using a brain implant. The device, developed by Blackrock Neurotech, uses microelectrode arrays to record neural activity associated with speech. Within two days, Casey could communicate using a 125,000-word vocabulary at 32 words per minute, with only a 2.5% error rate. This advancement shows significant progress in restoring communication for paralyzed individuals, allowing Casey to converse with family and friends using a voice similar to his pre-ALS one. Reuters
