Container of illegally imported liquor seized at Chattogram port

Chattogram Customs House seized a container of illegally imported liquor at the port. The consignment, declared as synthetic fabrics from China, was imported by Supreme Smart Wear Limited, a Narayanganj-based export-oriented company. Customs officials are still cataloging the seized items. The import, which arrived in December, was handled by Hafez Trading Pvt Limited. Importing liquor requires a 605.80% duty payment, even with proper permissions. Officials suspect a syndicate is involved in false declarations.
