Drive against polythene bag manufacturers will start from Nov 1: Environment Secretary

The Environment Ministry will launch a crackdown on polythene bag manufacturers from November 1, announced Secretary Dr. Farhina Ahmed during a meeting with Shantinagar Market Committee in Dhaka on Saturday. A multi-agency enforcement team will be formed to implement the ban. Despite being prohibited for 22 years, polythene use continues to pose health and environmental risks.
