Ex-Chhatra League leader detained while fleeing Bangladesh

Former Chittagong Chhatra League general secretary Nurul Azim Rony was detained at Dhaka’s international airport while attempting to leave the country. Rony, a member of the Awami League’s Youth and Sports Sub Committee, is accused of leading an attack on students during a rally in Chittagong on July 16. A student activist had urged people to detain Rony, calling him the “main culprit” behind the violence. His intended destination was unknown. UNB
