Ex-DC Mashiur Rahman placed on 7-day remand

A Dhaka court granted a seven-day remand for Mashiur Rahman, former deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch, in connection with teenager Abdul Motalib’s killing during a student uprising. The court denied bail for Rahman, who was arrested on September 19. The case, filed by Motalib’s father, accuses 176 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and other high-profile politicians.
