Fighting extradition, Dutch player Promes resumes career in UAE

Former Dutch footballer Quincy Promes has joined United FC in Dubai, UAE, while fighting extradition to the Netherlands. Promes was sentenced in absentia to six years in prison for drug trafficking and 18 months for assault. He was arrested in Dubai in March at the request of Dutch authorities but released in May with travel restrictions. Promes denies all charges and has appealed both cases. His contract with Spartak Moscow was terminated in June. The 32-year-old striker has 50 caps for the Netherlands.READ FULL
