Flash flood in Sylhet: one lakh more stranded in seven hours

Despite a drop in rainfall in Meghalaya, the flood situation in Sylhet, Bangladesh continues to worsen, with 28 out of 42 wards inundated. The district administration reports that 761 villages under 10 upazilas are flooded, affecting around 7.38 lakh people as of 10:00 pm yesterday. The Surma river is flowing 5 cm above the danger level, while the Sylhet City Corporation has opened 554 shelters for the flood victims, with councillors also providing refuge in their homes.
