Gas production continues to decrease
Bangladesh’s gas production has declined from 2,500 million cubic feet per day to 2,000 million, exacerbating the supply crisis. Production has dropped in major gas fields, with experts blaming negligence and lack of modern technology. The country’s gas reserves may last 10-12 years at current production rates. While state-owned companies struggle to increase production, the government is focusing on LNG imports to meet the growing demand. Experts urge updating reserve data and increasing domestic production.
