Govt seeks $1b budget support from WB

Bangladesh’s power ministry adviser sought $1 billion in budgetary support from the World Bank, citing $2.2 billion owed to energy suppliers. The interim government has suspended the controversial Quick Enhancement of Electricity and Energy Supply Act 2010 and removed the power to set energy prices without public hearings.
