Hawaii announces $4 bn settlement in wildfire lawsuits

A $4 billion settlement has been reached for lawsuits related to the devastating Maui wildfires of August 2023. Hawaii’s governor announced that the state, Maui County, and Hawaiian Electric will compensate victims. The settlement, pending judicial approval, comes after four months of mediation.
