icddr,b suggests media role for creating awareness on antimicrobial resistance

A recent icddr,b study analyzing 275 news articles from 12 leading Bangladeshi newspapers reveals media’s crucial role in shaping public awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The research found that misuse of antibiotics (32.2%), sale without prescriptions (29%), and over-prescription (26.1%) were the most reported issues. Bangladesh faces alarming AMR rates, with common pathogens showing high resistance to antibiotics.
