Iran’s fearless filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof: from prison to Cannes
Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof received a special jury prize at Cannes for his film “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” about Iran’s women-led protests. Rasoulof has faced prison terms for his uncompromising movies criticizing repression in Iran. He recently fled Iran on the eve of Cannes to avoid an 8-year sentence, having learned to work underground during his previous jail stints. Photo: AFP
