Jails are becoming drug dens

The rampant drug smuggling and trading inside prisons across Bangladesh is alarming. Data shows disciplinary actions were taken against at least 25 jail guards for drug trafficking in the past year. With inflated drug prices in prisons and widespread inmate involvement, prisons are turning into drug dens. Authorities need to take a holistic approach, including stronger surveillance, increased random searches, and strict monitoring of officials, to curb this issue and ensure proper rehabilitation of prisoners.
