Japan warns against ‘escalation’ on Korean peninsula

North Korea destroyed symbolic roads and railways connecting it to South Korea, prompting a “counter-fire” operation from Seoul. Japan warned against escalation on the Korean peninsula following these actions. Pyongyang had previously vowed to seal its southern border, accusing Seoul of dropping propaganda leaflets.
