Meet LignoSat, the world’s first wooden satellite

By Redoy K

Researchers have unveiled LignoSat, the world’s first wooden satellite made primarily from magnolia wood. Set to launch in September 2024, this innovative project aims to test the potential of wood as a sustainable material for space applications. Unlike metal satellites, LignoSat is designed to burn cleanly upon re-entry, reducing space debris and promoting eco-friendly practices in space exploration.
