Modi’s alliance unanimously elects him to lead as India’s PM for third term

Narendra Modi was formally elected by lawmakers of his National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to serve a historic third consecutive term as India’s Prime Minister. For the first time in a decade, Modi’s BJP needed support from regional parties to form the government, as they secured only 240 seats, short of the 272 required majority.
