Nearly 400,000 stranded in Sylhet as flood worsens
Heavy rains have exacerbated the flood situation in Sylhet, Bangladesh, stranding nearly 400,000 people. Rivers are flowing above danger levels, inundating 864 villages. Within Sylhet city, 10,000 residents are marooned as low-lying areas are submerged. The district administration has opened 619 shelters and deployed rescue teams, but the situation is expected to worsen if heavy rainfall continues.
