Nintendo and Pokémon officially sue Palworld
Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Pocketpair Inc., the developer of Palworld, in Tokyo District Court. The lawsuit seeks an injunction and compensation, alleging Palworld infringes on Pokémon’s patent rights. Palworld, launched in January 2024, gained 25 million players in a month. While Pocketpair insists Palworld is a survival crafting game, critics have called it a “Pokémon rip-off”.
