Over 1,000 killed during mass uprising, 400 blinded
Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum reported that over 1,000 people were killed and more than 400 blinded during recent student-led protests in Bangladesh. This figure is higher than previous estimates by human rights groups and the UN. The adviser visited injured policemen at the Central Police Hospital and discussed government efforts to provide care for those injured, especially those with eye injuries. The government is collaborating with international organizations, including the US-based Sheba Foundation, to bring specialized medical care for the victims.READ FULL
